Hi everyone, my name is Kim.  A few years ago, I wanted to get a cool custom cake for my husband’s birthday, but I couldn’t afford the high bakery prices for all of that fancy fondant work.  In a true Tim Gunn “make it work” moment, I Googled how to make fondant, baked hubby a really cool cake and started off on an accidental baking journey.

I made cakes for about a year, until I stumbled into the world of cake pops.  After months of getting frustrated by the expense, mess and waste of Styrofoam, I collaborated with my dad, a master woodworker, and we built a wooden stand to hold my pops while I decorated them… cue my Oprah “aha!” moment!  (I have many tv-inspired moments).

Confident that I wasn’t the only frustrated cake pop maker, I founded KC Bakes, a custom cake pop stand business, and I am loving getting to know cake pop makers from all over the world.

This is my blog to share baking tutorials, tips and inspiration, as well as other general musings that I find interesting.  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I just ordered my first cake pop stand and I just can’t wait to get it! I first saw you on Instagram and then realized you sold the cake pop stands. I love your work and I’ll tag you in a pic of my new stand when I get it to give you a shout out on Instagram! 🙂 I hope your business is blessed!
