Saturday, June 2nd, will mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation.

A brief history lesson: the Queen acceded to the throne on February 6, 1952, on the death of her father, King George VI; she was crowned on June 2, 1953.  “Accension” describes the event of a new sovereign taking the throne upon the death of the previous King or Queen. To learn more, explore an interactive timeline of her 60 years on The Diamond Jubilee’s official website.

I love her spirit that’s captured in this picture; you can’t help but smile 🙂

The Queen’s Diamond Jubliee is being marked by celebratory events all over the UK, and cake pops commemorating the occasion have been ‘popping’ up as well. Each picture is linked to the baker’s Facebook page, so you can show them some love & “likes”!
